Description

The Edridge Monument is a chest tomb located about 15 meters southwest of the Church of St. James in Bushey. It commemorates H. Edridge, an Associate of the Royal Academy and Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, who died in 1821. The monument was erected by Dr. T. Monro, Edridge's patron. It is constructed from ashlar and designed in the Greek Revival style. The tomb features a shallow pyramidal base supporting a plain sarcophagus, with an inscription on one long side and a palette in relief on the opposite side. At the top, there are raised scrolls at the ends, connected by a long ribbon ornament.
