Description

This is a farmhouse at North End Farm, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with a later west range from the 18th century that features a gambrel roof. The structure is timber-framed with a stuccoed sill and roughcast walls, complemented by a white weatherboarded apron. The roofs are covered with old red tiles. The house has one and a half storeys and faces south, while the east crosswing rises to two storeys and has a side-jetty that extends towards the road.

The internal layout follows a three-cell plan with a central chimney and a cross-passage at the eastern end of the west range, which runs behind the stack. There are 18th or 19th century red brick chimneys inserted at the western end and at the rear of the crosswing. The front of the house features three windows, including two 2-light boxed dormer windows at the eaves, three 3-light flush casement windows, and two similar 2-light windows on the first floor of the crosswing. The entrance includes a half-glazed flush-panelled door set in a moulded surround, topped with a small hood supported by shaped brackets.

The older east crosswing is angled relative to the west range and displays three heavy chamfered brackets beneath the jetty. Inside, there is a 17th century plank door with moulded muntins.
