Description
The farmhouse at Lites Farm is a late 16th-century building that was altered in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame set on a stucco plinth and is roughcast with a steeply pitched roof that is now slated. The house is small, with one and a half storeys, consisting of two cells and a central chimney, and it faces south.
The structure has three bays, with a cut tie-beam located a third of the way from the west end, and a 17th-century chimney built against it on the east side. The parlour is situated at the east end and includes chamfered axial joists and provisions for a stair. The eastern part of the house has been rebuilt in the 18th century, featuring a fireplace that incorporates an oven, with chamfered axial beams supported off the fireplace lintel. The walls have curved tension braces and jowled posts.
The south front has two windows, a central gabled porch, and a large gabled dormer on the eaves of the eastern part. The windows are three-light flush casement types, and there is a four-panel flush beaded door. The farmhouse is mentioned in the Court Roll of 1674 and may have originally been a medieval manor house.
