Description

The Darlings is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century. It is timber-framed with roughcast plastering on the upper portion and the ground floor cased in 18th-century red brick. The roof is covered with steep old red tiles. The house has a central-chimney plan, facing west, with three bays. A red brick chimney is centrally located, roughly a third of the way from the south end, and there is an internal gable chimney at the north end, dating from the 19th century. The front eaves overhang, with a plastered soffit. There are three windows on each floor; the lower windows are arched with segmental arches. The windows are 3-light flush casements with wooden frames. A 4-panel flush beaded door is present. A 19th-century rear extension exists.
