Description
Newhouse Farm House is a house dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, with a 19th-century polychrome brick facing on the south front. It stands two storeys high with attics and features a timber frame that is plastered. The roof is made of old red tiles and is gabled to the east and west. At the west end, there is a two-storey timber-framed, plastered rear wing that has a clasped purlin roof structure and shaped feet to the rafters. The rear wall has two large red brick lateral chimneys built in English bond.
At the back, there are three-light mullioned and transomed windows from the late 17th century, which have been altered for wooden opening lights. There are also two single-storey brick extensions at the rear, likely from the 17th century, constructed in English bond brickwork. The eastern extension has a hipped tile roof, while the western extension features a steep gabled roof that is now slated. The attic is lit by a Yorkshire sliding casement window in the gable, dating from the 19th century.
The south front is made of yellow stock brick banded in red and has a symmetrical design with three windows. The windows have red gauged segmental arches and are recessed sash windows. A glazed porch leads to the central door. The house is situated on a prominent corner site.
