Description

STATION ROAD 1. 5253 (North Side) Crane base and short length of quay wall of Stort Navigation, 20 yds N of road near bridge TL 4882 1501:2/14 II GV 2. C18/C19. 5 foot solid iron pillar, tapering from 15" diameter at base. Expanded moulded head. Projecting central top pin. Base for crane at former wharf, about 5 feet from water edge where brick revetment is topped by large 9 feet long York stone slab. Of archaeological interest in the history of the Stort Navigation begun after an Act of Parliament in 1766.
