Description
35 and 37 Station Road are a pair of late 18th-century mill workers’ houses. They are symmetrical in design and feature steep hipped roofs, now slated and pebbledashed, with a black brick base and likely timber framing. The houses are two storeys in height. Red brick chimneys are centrally placed on each half of the building. Windows are 19th-century flush wooden casements, each divided horizontally. Plank doors, set within heavy frames and accessed by two steps, are located near the corner and against a three-light casement window. They were originally early workers’ housing for Sawbridgeworth Mill.
