Description

The Pond House at Bugby's Farm is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with an east wing from that period, a late 16th or early 17th century hall, and a west crosswing. The building underwent alterations in the late 18th century and late 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, with weatherboarding at the apex of the gables on the west wing, and has steep old red tile roofs.

The house consists of a two-bay east parlour wing, a late two-storey hall, and a west service wing. There is a lobby entry from the north, which includes a late 18th-century stair and a small central chimney that likely replaced a larger timber-framed double smokehood. The east end has a late 18th-century external gable chimney for the kitchen, and the west wing was probably divided around the same time.

The north front has three windows on each floor, along with a small window above a lean-to porch from the 20th century, located in the angle of the projecting gabled wing on the right. The windows are 20th-century flush two-light casements. The south side features three windows on each floor, with small hoods and leaded glazing. There is a half-glazed door with a small hood in the middle of the hall range.

One tie-beam from the former transverse roof of the east wing remains visible. The west wing has a two-bay clasped-purlin roof with wind braces, and the ground floor displays exposed framing. Additionally, there is a three-bay 17th-century barn attached to the east end that has been converted for domestic use. The farmhouse was named The Pond House in the mid-20th century.
