Description
The Lilacs is a house located in Great Munden, originally built in the early 18th century. It was later renovated and divided in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame that is weatherboarded on a stuccoed plinth. It has a steep roof that is now covered with slate, and there is a catslide roof at the rear over an outshot. The house likely started as a three-unit plan. It has a main chimney at the south that projects to the outside, and a later red brick external gable chimney at the north with a single flue. The two-storey house faces east and has four windows on each floor, along with a gabled timber porch that leads to a battened door in the middle of each half. There is a continuous drip board above the ground floor windows, and the windows are flush framed Yorkshire sliding casements with small panes.
