Description
Old Tiles is a house dating from the 16th century, which was altered and extended in the 18th century and underwent renovation with a garage extension in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame that is plastered, along with a plastered brick porch and garage extension on the north side. It has a steep old red tile roof that is half-hipped, with a lower matching roof on the north extension. The house has a three-unit plan and is a two-storey structure now facing west, with a central chimney that was rebuilt in red brick during the 18th century, located a third of the way from the south end. There is evidence of a continuous former side-jetty on the east side. The single-storey north extension includes a hipped enclosed porch from the 20th century on the west side. The first floor has three flush two-light casement windows, and there are two more on the ground floor flanking the porch. At the rear, there is an outshot under a catslide roof. Inside, the building features exposed framing, including a jowled jetty post at the northeast corner and curved tension braces.
