Description

Hawthorn Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a possible extension from the 18th century. It features a timber frame on a stucco sill, with roughcast above a weatherboarded apron that reaches to the heads of the ground floor windows. The cottage has a steep thatched roof that is hipped at the north end. It is a one and a half storeys, three-unit plan house that faces east. There is a large external gabled chimney at the south end. The entrance consists of a plank door next to the left-hand window, with two windows to the right. The windows are two-light flush casements. Additionally, there are two gabled thatched dormers with similar windows. A flat-roofed rear extension is present but is not of special interest.
