Description

The Rest and Welcome Public House is a building that originated as a house, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a north wing added in the 19th century and an extension to the rear in the early 20th century. It features a timber frame covered in roughcast and has a steeply pitched roof made of black corrugated iron. The structure is a three-unit house with a central chimney plan, consisting of one and a half storeys and facing south. The central chimney is roughcast and positioned a third of the way from the eastern end. There are two lean-to dormer windows at the eaves, each with small-paned wooden two-light flush casements. The eastern part of the building has a plank door and a two-light casement window, both linked under a dripboard.

To the east, there is a lower single-storey outbuilding, which is long and weatherboarded, topped with a red pantile roof. The western end of this outbuilding faces the road and features a two-light casement window in the gable, above a pilastered window and door surround on the left. The roughcast north wing has an old red tile roof and a gable chimney. It includes a half-glazed panelled door with casement windows, one of which has gothic pointed heads on the top lights.
