Description

This is a house located on the corner of Eastwick Road and Church Lane in Eastwick village, likely built in the late 17th century, with some small additions made in the mid-19th century. The house is two storeys high and has three windows, featuring a timber-framed structure with roughcast exterior facing east. It has an old red tile gabled roof, with the purlin ends visible high in the gable. The windows include both three-light and two-light casements. The central entrance is a four-panel door topped with a moulded flat hood supported by heavy trusses. To the right, there is a shallow single-storey canted bay window, which was originally under a pentice roof according to a drawing from 1834. There is also a white brick lean-to addition at the southern end and a shallow two-storey rear addition that matches the roughcast of the main house. This timber-framed house is a notable survivor from the time before the village was largely rebuilt by the Gilston Estate in the mid-19th century and is part of a picturesque group in the village centre.
