Description
This building, now subdivided into two separate houses at numbers 49 and 51 Crib Street, dates from the 16th century and was significantly altered in the 18th century, with restoration work undertaken in 1991 to number 49. The building is timber-framed and was refronted in brick, later refaced with masonry lined stucco and colourwashed pebbledash on the number 49 side. It has an old tiled roof, edged with Welsh slates, and a large yellow brick chimneystack on the left side, rebuilt in 1991. The first floor has a plat band that may indicate an earlier underbuilt jetty. The first floor has two main, flush-set windows; one is a recessed six-light mullion and transom window with lattice glazing, and the other a flush set triple-light casement with wooden glazing bars. Smaller windows are located to the left and in the centre. The ground floor has two recessed modern entrance doors, one recessed triple-light sash window to the centre left (number 49) and one flush set sash window to the right (number 51). A small window is present on the left side of the first floor.
