Description

This is a 17th-century house located in Ware Town, originally a single dwelling but later subdivided into two separate homes. The house has undergone alterations in the 20th century and has rear extensions. The structure is timber-framed with colourwashed plaster on the front of number 59 and machine-tiled roofing on number 61. The house is two storeys high. The windows consist of one sash window with glazing bars, and one casement window, both flush set. Small wooden weatherboards cover the ground floor windows. Number 61 has modern replacement windows from the 1980s and a modern porch. At the rear, the timber frame is exposed, and there is an unusual feature: a two-light wooden mullioned window with brick infill on the first floor of number 59, positioned above a modern conservatory extension. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the wider group value of the area.
