Description
South Maltings is a maltings building dating from the late 1840s. It is constructed of Flemish bond yellow stock brick, with the east and west ends featuring weatherboarded timber framing. The roof is made of pantiles and has gabled ends, with the west gable covered in corrugated iron sheets. The building has a long rectangular plan, with a kiln and grain store located at the west end. It stands three storeys tall and has small windows, some of which are blocked. A tile-hung conical kiln projects from the ridge at the west end, topped with a conical cowl. Additionally, there is a gabled and weatherboarded hoist housing that projects from the east end. Inside, the kiln floor and tie-plates have been removed.
