Description

The Mill House is an 18th-century house, with alterations made in the mid-19th century, particularly to the front windows and a rear extension. It is constructed of red brick, with a lighter red brick rear extension, and has a steep old red tile roof. The house follows a double-fronted, double-pile plan, facing west. A central entrance is flanked by internal gable chimney on the north side and an external gable chimney on the south.

The symmetrical front elevation is two storeys high, with three windows. It includes a floor band and flat, gauged arches over the upper windows. Recessed sash windows with 2/2 panes are present. Twin, flat-topped canted bay windows with a cornice flank the six-panelled fielded front door, the top two panels glazed. The door is set within a wooden doorcase featuring panelled pilasters and an open pedimented hood supported by bold carved brackets, and approached by three steps. A full-height rear extension has doubled the original depth of the house. An old tiled stable block, linked to the rear, has been refaced in 19th-century red brick.
