Description

This is a block of four houses on the west side of Standon High Street, dating to the 18th century. The houses are timber-framed with roughcast rendering, and have a slated gambrel roof with a continuous rear lean-to addition. The block faces east and is set back from the road. There are two houses arranged as a pair, repeated. Each house has two storeys and attic space. The layout is characterised by doors positioned away from the fireplaces, with one window per floor in each house. The windows are flush box sash windows, originally with 6/6 panes, although a 2-light casement window has replaced one. A flat-topped dormer window is visible in the middle houses, and a 2-light 18th-century leaded casement window with a metal opening frame illuminates the gable end attic space. A gabled porch is attached to the second house from the south end.
