Description
This is a house, now divided into three separate residences. It dates primarily from the early 19th century, but incorporates an earlier 17th-century building within the Sprangewell Centre section, and an even older building with a timber-framed upper floor at Sprangewell West.
The main part of the building is a two-story white-painted brick structure facing south, with a prominent pedimented stucco centrepiece. It has a slate roof with a hip on the west side and a gable parapet on the east. A two-story hipped block is set back at the northwest. Grey brick chimneys are visible. The facade has four windows, with the stucco centre section framed by pilasters and topped by a large triangular pediment, which contains the two central windows. The upper floor windows are recessed sash windows with 12-pane glazing and visible sunblind cases. A two-panel door, with a fanlight and flat hood on scrolled brackets, is positioned centrally on the right side, alongside a triple sash window. On either side of the central section are similar upper sash windows. Below, to the left, there is a canted bay window with a hipped roof, and to the right, a triple French door screen. A two-window-wide block is set back at the northwest, featuring a door in the angle.
Inside the Sprangewell Centre portion, there is a chamfered beam, and a black and white marble entrance hall floor dating from around 1830.
