Description

The Homestead is an early 18th-century house, remodelled in 1887 by R W Mylne. The modern glazed link to the eastern extension is not of special interest. It is a one-storey timber-frame building, with a low brick sill wall, plastered and colourwashed. The roof is steeply pitched, clad in old red tiles, and half-hipped to the south. A large red brick gable chimney is located at the north, featuring two diamond chimney shafts. A small gabled wing at the northwest has a bullseye window set within a polychrome brick parapeted gable, matching a similar gable at the rear of Filmer Cottage. A catslide roof over the western garage incorporates two small gabled dormers. The house is part of a group alongside Filmer Cottage, near the church, in the centre of the Conservation Area.
