Description
Flint Cottage is a house from the early 19th century, likely designed by W C Mylne, who later constructed Flint House between 1842 and 1844. The cottage is built from buff brick and features a tiled gabled roof. It is a small Gothic-style house with one and a half storeys and two windows across the front. The east gable showcases cusped chamfered bargeboards and has a central gabled canopy above the door, supported by shaped brackets and adorned with ogee pierced bargeboards. The door itself is framed and boarded within a heavy chamfered rectangular frame. Above the door is a timber cross window with leaded lattice and a moulded stucco label. There are also two three-light timber mullioned windows with wooden casements, each featuring a flat arch and moulded stucco label. Small two-light casement windows have been added beneath the eaves. To the west, there is a narrow short section that includes similar bargeboards and an ogee hooded porch, along with a similar door on the north side. Flint Cottage is part of a group with Flint House and The Observatory, which adds to its significance.
