Description
The stable block at Youngsbury, located 60 meters north of the house, is a Grade II* listed building dating from around 1769, constructed for David Barcley. It is built from plum brick and features a slate roof. The design is a symmetrical Palladian style, highlighted by an elliptical arched carriageway that passes through a two-storey central block with a pediment, clock, and a cupola that was renewed around 1950. The stable block has five bays of arcading on the lower wings on the eastern face, which faces the courtyard, and includes higher pedimented projecting end blocks that serve as coach houses, each with two pairs of double doors. The western side, which is simpler in design, also features triple arcading at the lower part of the end blocks and small semi-circular windows flanking the entrance arch.
