Description
This granary, located at Number 44 (Bayford House) and 5 metres to the east of the stables, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a chequered pattern featuring blue headers and lighter red brick dressings. The granary has a very steep old red tile pyramidal roof, which is topped by an elaborate wrought iron wind vane. It is a tall ornamental structure, approximately 4 metres square, with a central entrance on the north side. The doorway is framed with red brick dressings and features an eaves band with a corbel table on projecting headers. The entrance has a flat gauged arch and a boarded door that is accessed by steps. Each side of the granary has perforated bricks arranged in a cross pattern for ventilation. Inside, the walls are plastered, the ceiling is flat, and there are wooden corn bins along three walls, leaving a small central space in the raised boarded floor.
