Description
Lambfield Cottage consists of two adjoining houses, built in the 18th century, with No. 43 possibly being older. No. 43 features a timber frame on a high painted brick sill, with the lower part plastered and roughcast. No. 45 is also roughcast and shows remnants of pargetting, but its south gable was rebuilt in 19th century red brick. Both houses have steep old red tile roofs and are two stories tall. No. 43 is set back from the road, facing west, and is partly overlapped at its southern end by No. 45, which is closer to the road. There is a later southeast extension aligned with No. 43 to the south. No. 43 has a front lean-to covering part of its façade next to No. 45. The internal layout of No. 43 consists of two cells with an internal chimney, featuring a west front with a two-light and a single-light flush casement window on the first floor, along with a three-light window to the left of the porch at the angle with the front lean-to. No. 45 has a two-cell layout with end chimneys and an entrance into the northern room. It includes two leaded two-light windows on each floor and a four-panel door in a moulded surround beneath a lean-to glazed porch.
