Description
The granary at North End Farm, dating from around 1700, is a timber-framed structure raised on red brick piers. It features dark weatherboarding and a steeply pitched roof that is currently covered with corrugated asbestos. This small, rectangular, single-bay building faces east and has a central boarded door accessed by a short ladder. The granary has unjowled posts with straight tension braces and close-studded walls. The mid-height walls are filled with old red brick laid on edge, and the interior is plastered between the studs. Inside, there is a clasped-purlin roof with a central demi-collar truss and flat rafters. The granary is part of a picturesque farm courtyard group, which includes a 19th-century four-bay implement shed attached to the north end, also with a corrugated asbestos roof and an open frontage to the yard on the east. The granary is included for its group value.
