Description
The barn at Mundenbury, located 30 meters southeast of the house, is a 17th-century structure that has been converted into stables. It features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded on a stuccoed brick sill, topped with a steep roof now covered in corrugated iron. The barn has a low profile with six bays and is oriented to the south, internally divided into two main sections with later subdivisions. It includes jowled posts with braces supporting the tie beams, and cranked queen-struts leading to collars in the clasped-purlin roof. Stable doors are present on the south side and the west end. Originally thatched until around 1900, the barn is part of a charming group of weatherboarded buildings.
