Description
Old Lordship Farm House is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with a western front range added in the mid to late 18th century. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and features a slate mansard roof on the west side, while the rear north part has an old red tile roof.
The two-storey front has a central Doric porch supported by three-quarter columns, with a fluted frieze and a dentilled cornice. There are three windows with 6/6 sash frames and louvred shutters. The south garden front has similar sash windows, but with fluted friezes and dentil cornices on the ground floor. There is a 20th-century canted extension on the east side, which also features 6/6 sash windows.
The north elevation includes a large early 17th-century chimneystack with attached shafts. This section of the house was originally an open hall, which was floored over in the 17th century. It has chamfered and stopped floor beams and an exposed, sooted tie beam on the upper floor. The ground floor fireplace includes triangle-headed niches. The south ground floor has a well-preserved 18th-century interior, featuring a fluted dado, door, and main friezes, along with re-used oak panelling in the front hall.
