Description

The barn at Cherry Farm, located 30 meters south of the house, dates from the late 17th century and incorporates timbers from an earlier structure. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and has a steeply pitched roof, which is currently covered with corrugated iron. The barn is a three-bay, single-aisled building that faces north. It has double doors in the central bay and an aisle at the rear, which is on the south side. The structure includes jowled posts with long slender curved braces connecting to the tie-beams and the rear arcade plate. There are straight tension-braces to the corner posts, and the roof is constructed with queen-strut and collar, clasped-purlins.
