Description
The barn at Walkern Hall Farm, located 30 meters northeast of the house, dates from the early 17th century and was altered in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick sill, with weatherboarding and a steeply pitched roof that has been slated. The barn is a tall, formerly single-aisled structure with four bays, facing south. There are double doors in the second bay from the west. It has jowled posts with ogee moulding at the chin, and slightly curved heavy braces supporting the tie-beams and arcade plate on the north side. A mid-height rail is tennoned in line. The roof is a clasped-purlin type with collars and raking queen-struts. The north aisle has been rebuilt as a wider lean-to beyond a new wall in the 19th century.
