Description
The Beit Memorial is a tomb located about 25 meters west-southwest of the Church of St. Peter in Tewin. It commemorates A. Beit of Tewin Water, a diamond merchant and associate of C. Rhodes, who died in 1906. The memorial is made of marble and features a low wall with a squat balustrade surrounding a square enclosure that is open at the front. At the rear, there is a scrolled slab with an inscription, along with a base and cornice. An inscribed slab for his wife, Lilian, has been added above. Inside the enclosure, there are small triangular balusters dedicated to Sir O. Beit, who died in 1930, and T.H. Beit, who died in 1917. The memorial is set against a backdrop of tall coniferous trees and is listed for its historic interest.
