Description

Lilac Cottages consist of two adjoining houses built in the early 18th century, with matching extensions added in the 19th or 20th century. The houses have a timber frame on a stuccoed sill, with roughcast walls and a weatherboarded apron, all beneath a steep roof covered in old red tiles. A central chimney serves both properties. A small weatherboarded panel is visible on the right side of No. 2. The houses form a long, two-storey block facing east. Originally, each house featured a large heated room accessible by doors at both the front and back, a staircase, and a small service room at the end. The front of each original house had two windows on each floor and a central doorway. They have 2-light flush casement windows with dripboards, and the first floor of No. 2 has two 3-light casement windows. Matching two-storey end extensions extend in line with the original structure.
