Description
The Shinto shrine, located in the Japanese garden at Garden House, was built in the early 20th century or possibly earlier. It was made in Japan for Herbert Goode, who started the Japanese Garden in 1905. The shrine is constructed from timber that is carved and stained black. It is a small Shinto shrine that is accurate in all details and is of the type known as Azumi-Inari, which is dedicated to the God of Prosperity.
