Description

This is a terrace of ten houses dating to the late 18th century, with a similar building at number 31 dated 1797. The houses are constructed of grey and yellow brick, with an old red tile roof and hipped ends. They are arranged over two storeys. The terrace comprises five pairs of houses and a shop, “D E Swallow: Handy Stores,” at the southern end, facing Anchor Lane. The northernmost house extends to the rear and has two canted bay windows, with a doorway between them, on its north-facing side. Each house has a door situated away from a shared chimney and a single window on each of the two floors, directly above one another. The windows are two-light casements set flush into the wall. Both doors and windows are framed by segmental arches. The shopfront has a traditional design, with twin canted oriel windows supported by brackets, united under a single roof, and a half-glazed door in between. The terrace is included on the heritage list for its group value.
