Description
This is a barn located at High Trees Farm, dating from the late 16th century, with alterations to the roof made in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame set on a red brick sill and has a steeply pitched roof that is currently covered with corrugated iron, although it has battens spaced for pantiles. The barn consists of three tall bays and faces east, with an original small aisle at the rear of the central bay that has now been extended to the flanking bays. There are double doors in the middle of the east side leading into the entrance yard. The barn includes jowled posts with curved braces supporting the tie-beams, as well as curved tension bracing in the walls and a mid-height rail. The original queen-post roof has been reduced in pitch during the 19th century.
