Description

Deerleap is a house dating from the 17th century, which was renovated in the early 19th century and again in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with plastered infill, and has roughcast rendering. The south gable is weatherboarded above a lower section rebuilt in plastered brick. The roof is steeply pitched and now covered with modern slates. A gabled porch with tiling is present.

The house is arranged as a 2-story, 3-cell plan, facing east, with a tall red brick chimney positioned one-third of the way from the south end. There is a front-wall chimney. An irregular, lean-to weatherboarded front extension is visible to the north, following the curve of the former road along the river bank. The front of the house has three windows; the upper floor windows are small-paned flush Yorkshire sliding casements, while the ground floor windows are flush box sash windows with 8/8 panes. A gabled porch shelters the front door. The top of the tall red brick T-shaped internal chimney was rebuilt in the 18th century.
