Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse, with a lower west extension dating to the early 18th century, and a plaque indicating construction in 1695. The main structure is two storeys with an attic and a cellar. It is constructed of banded English bond brickwork, featuring red stretchers and blue headers, with deep coved plaster eaves and a steep roof covered in old red tiles. The house has a symmetrical design on both its north and south fronts, along with a lower two-storey west extension and a brick outhouse connected to the southwest corner. The south front, facing the road, features a plat band, a hipped dormer on the west roof slope, five sash windows with 8/8 panes on the first floor, two 3-light casement windows on the ground floor, and a central four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, accessed by three steps. The north front, facing the yard, has a plaster date plaque above the central door, a plat band over the doorhead, and two windows on each side on the first and ground floors, and to the cellar. Two windows from the east on each floor and two windows from the west on the ground floor are blocked. A segmental arch frames the entrance door. The west extension features a plat band, a corbelled eaves band, a 2-light casement window on the first floor, and a rectangular bay window on the ground floor. The interior retains chamfered axial beams and squared joists. Internal gable chimneys are present at each end, with a larger open fireplace at the west end.
