Description
Pye Corner is a house that dates back to the 17th century or earlier. It underwent alterations in the 18th century, including brick casing at the rear, and was converted into four houses in the 19th century, which included a brick front. The building features exposed timber framing at the gable ends with red brick infill panels, and the front and rear are finished in red brick laid in Flemish bond. It has a steep old red tile roof and is a long two-storey structure facing west, with the floor levels higher in the southern part, although the roof remains uniform.
The front has four windows, each fitted with two-light flush Yorkshire sliding casements that have small panes, located under the eaves. The ground floor has similar windows, but the outer ones have been replaced with casements. In the center of the front, there are two plank doors positioned side-by-side beneath a wide open timber porch that has a gabled tiled roof. The building features two large chimneys on the front slope and has single-storey extensions set back at each end. The northern gable displays exposed timber framing with jowled posts and a collar-and-queen struts truss supporting a clasped-purlin roof.
