Description
The Kings Arms Public House is a mid-19th century establishment located on King Street. It features a stucco-painted exterior and a steep hipped slate roof. This two-storey building with attics has a square shape and presents a classical urban pub design, facing west on a peninsular site at a junction. The symmetrical west front is three windows wide and includes a plinth, corner pilasters, caps, eaves bond, moulded architraves, and bracketed sills for the recessed sash windows, which have 6/6 panes. There is a projecting porch with steps, Tuscan columns, a full entablature, and a blocking course. The entrance consists of a half-glazed door with side-lights. The north and south sides also have similar pilastered elevations that are three windows wide, with side-wall chimneys that rise above the eaves. Notably, the first window from the front corner on both floors is formed through the chimney stack, with a fireplace located inside under each window. The interior features panelled shutters in deep reveals, along with pine panelled doors and stripped joinery.
