Description
Ardenoak House is a late 18th century to early 19th century building, now used as offices. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof. This simple, detached villa stands two storeys tall with a basement, set back from the road and facing north. The north front is symmetrical and three windows wide, with a plinth and corbelled eaves courses. The windows are recessed sash types with 6/6 panes, plastered reveals, and flat gauged red brick arches.
In the centre, there is a round arched doorway with a radial lobed fanlight above a six-panel door, accessed by five stone steps. The doorway is framed by a square projecting porch supported by fluted columns with square bases, topped with a simple abacus, a full entablature, and glazed sides. The building has a double-pile plan with end chimneys. On the west side, there is a large sash window for the kitchen with 10/10 panes, and two steps lead up to another six-panel door. The building was formerly known as Elm House.
