Description
No 24, formerly called Longside, is a house built in 1888 by architect Reginald Blomfield as part of an estate development. The building has two storeys and an attic, constructed of brick with the upper storey rendered. It features a coved eaves cornice and a string course. The tile roof has gables that are a distinctive feature of the house, with three gables on the main elevation, applied timber framing, plain bargeboards, and finials. The first-floor windows are casements with glazing bars, mullions, and transoms. Above the entrance door, there is a staircase window made up of 16 rectangular leaded panes. The round-headed doorway has a keystone and double doors with sidelights. To the right, there is a full-height angle projection with a pargetted base and a gabled attic venetian window. Inside, the staircase is designed in a simple Chinese style.
