Description

This is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, which has undergone alterations in the early 19th century and late 19th century. It is arranged in an L-shape. The front of the building was re-faced with stucco in the early 19th century and later altered on the south side and rear. The roof is covered with machine tiles, while the north wall is constructed of yellow stock brick. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front featuring flush sashes with louvred shutters. A modillioned cornice and a modern eaves-dentil course are visible. A leaded-roof porch supported by chamfered posts is present at the front. The front door, dating from the early 19th century, features an architrave surround, curved consoles, and a dentiled hood. The south elevation includes a canted, two-storey bay on the west side with a tiled roof, a square bay on the east side, and imitation half-timbering. Inside, there is a staircase dating from around 1730 that connects the first floor to the attic. A garden lies on the south side, enclosed by a yellow stock brick wall on the west and part of the south side; the remainder of the enclosure is from the 17th and 18th centuries.
