Description

Yewlands is a large house built in 1909 by Geoffrey Lucas, designed in a vernacular revival style. The building features red brick, half-timbering, plaster, and a machine tile roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with a prominent projecting gabled centre that includes a canted bay window and an over-sailing gable external stack on the north side. On the south side, there are two gabled porch bays with half-timbering, brick nogging, moulded bargeboards, and a decorative door surround. The windows are leaded casements, with the porch windows showcasing a lozenge pattern at the top. The plasterwork includes incised patterns, while the interior boasts oak panelling and a turned-baluster staircase, along with decorated plasterwork inspired by the mid-17th century. The front garden wall features pyramid-topped end piers and a turned-baluster gate.
