Description

The Porch is a timber-framed and plastered house located on Lower Street in Stansted Mountfitchet. It primarily features 18th century and 19th century external elements, but it may have medieval origins and has been altered in the 16th and 17th centuries. The building has two storeys and a three-window range with 20th century casements. A gabled porch extends from the front, showcasing a fine Tudor doorway with carved spandrels, which is likely a re-set feature. The roof is tiled and has gambrels at both the north and south ends. Inside, the house reveals exposed timber-framing, ceiling beams, and joists, with some of the beams being moulded.
