Description
The Angel and Harp Public House is a 17th-century building located on Church Street in Great Dunmow. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring two storeys topped with a gabled peg tile roof. At the northern end, there is a single-storey block also covered with a peg tile roof, along with a continuous peg lean-to at the rear, which has a short slated lean-to inset.
The front of the building showcases five double-hung sash windows with moulded surrounds and small panes. These are positioned above a central 18th-century door surround that features a flat hood supported by squat scroll brackets and a continuous moulded architrave. Additionally, there is a hipped central bay window with similar sash windows, along with one double-hung sash window and four small 20th-century windows. The roof has two large stacks located behind the ridge line and two small flat-roofed dormers on the rear slope. The rear elevation also includes some leaded light cast iron casements.
