Description
Victoria House is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century and possibly earlier. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring a gabled peg tile roof over the shop section and a slated gabled roof over the dwelling. The dwelling has three double hung sash windows with moulded surrounds and small panes, positioned above a central doorcase that includes pilasters and a flat hood, which is partly obscured by a 20th-century fretted porch designed in a 19th-century style. There are similar double hung sash windows on either side. The shop block has two double hung sash windows with moulded surrounds and small panes above a 19th-century shopfront. At the rear, there is a single-storey block that is set at right angles to the main structure. Inside, the ground floor rooms feature well-preserved fitted cupboards from the early 19th century.
