Description
This is a barn located 10 meters south of Andrews Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century. It is timber framed and covered in black weatherboarding, topped with a gabled roof made of corrugated iron. The barn has a gabled midstrey on the southwest corner and consists of four square bays, including one wide bay at the western end, suggesting it has been significantly shortened over time.
The framing is distinctive, featuring jowless posts, straight bracing, arched braces to the tie beam, and 'V' struts. The roof structure includes primary low collared rafters, secondary rafters with high collars, and collarless common rafters in between. The primary and secondary rafters are supported by joggled, low, framed purlins, while shorter joggled purlins connect the collared rafters at a higher level. The scarf joints are halved and bladed, and there is some brick under-building on the north and east walls.
