Description

Cowlands Farmhouse is an 18th and 19th century house built of gault brick with a hipped grey slate roof. It has two storeys and originally featured a three-window range of small-paned sliding sash windows on the first floor, and a two-window range to the ground floor, with gauged brick arches above the ground floor windows. The central entrance is a four-panelled door with reveal panels, plain pilasters with capitals, a frieze, and a flat canopy. Gault chimney stacks are located to the left and right of the facade. The house has a square plan. A farmhouse was recorded on the site as early as 1517.
