Description
Porters Hall is a house dating back to the 16th century, with earlier origins and subsequent additions and alterations. The house is timber-framed and plastered, arranged in a 'H' shape with a red plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and attics. The left-hand crosswing features a two-storey bay window added in the early 19th century, with three-light sliding sash windows and a modillion cornice, along with a small-paned casement window above. The remaining window arrangement is three windows over one to the first floor, and two windows over one to the ground floor, incorporating a variety of casements and sliding sashes, including several 17th-century iron casements. An early 18th-century four-panel door is present, with a flat-topped, swept canopy supported by heavy brackets. A red brick chimney is located to the right, and a square red brick chimney stack to the left. The interior includes heavy moulded beams, stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops, and 17th-century panelling. The site is moated.
