Description
The building known as the House and Cottage south of Springfield consists of two ranges positioned at right angles to each other. The main range, which faces east, is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered yeoman's house that was relocated from East Suffolk to its current location in 1939. It features a plain tile roof with a gabled dormer and a central chimney stack. This section is two stories high with an attic and has a two-window range of modern leaded light casements.
Adjoining the main range and facing south is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered cottage. This cottage has a thatched hipped roof with a central pair of brick chimney stacks and is one and a half stories tall. It includes small paned windows on the ground floor and a casement attic dormer, along with boarded doors.
