Description
This barn, located approximately 88 metres south-southeast of High Rodingbury Farmhouse, dates from the 17th or 18th century. It is timber framed, with parts that are plastered and weatherboarded, and it has a roof made of corrugated iron that is half-hipped at both ends. The barn measures about 27 metres in length and 7 metres in width, and it is aligned in a north-northwest to south-southeast direction. There is a hipped midstrey on the west side, which has been blocked and plastered over. Access to the interior was refused in January 1983, and the listing of this building was authorized without an internal inspection by the supervising Inspector of Historic Buildings of the Department of the Environment on 27 January 1983. Photographs of the barn are available from the National Monuments Record and from the Essex County Council Historic Buildings and Conservation Section.
